ROLP hosts first Vicariate BECs meeting of the year

B asic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) parish coordinators of the Vicariate of San Antonio de Padua gathered at the Veritas Catholic School Senior High Learning Hub on January 12 for their first meeting in 2017. ROLP Parish Priest Msgr. Manny Gabriel welcomed the group and gave a comprehensive and very well-received talk on this year’s Diocesan theme, "Communion of Communities.” Diocesan core group members Beth De Leon and Donna Caacbay of the Holy Family Parish in Las Piñas presided, with the guidance of BEC Diocesan Priest Coordinator Fr. Kevin Crisostomo.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) declared 2017 as the Year of the Parish as Communion of Communities. Fr. Amado L. Picardal, CSsR, STD of the CBCP-BEC Committee explains in his article "Basic Ecclesial Communities: Agents of Communion, Participation and Mission" that this is in line with the PCP II vision of a renewed Church, which is based on the Vatican II vision: The Church as Community of Disciples that live in communion and that participate in the mission of the Church as a priestly, prophetic and kingly people and as the Church of the Poor.
